We formed the Vintage Game Club in 2008 as a place where gamers could play through and discuss games that are out of the release-driven spotlight: older games that we feel still have something to teach us, that we either never got around to playing when they originally came out or that we’d like to re-experience in the company of others. And it’s been quite successful in that regard: I know I’ve both enjoyed and learned a lot from our playthroughs.
But we’ve had our problems, too: playthroughs have run into road blocks, and the club frequently goes silent for weeks at a time. So we’d like to propose a new way to organize our discussions, one that draws more from our members’ motivations. I’ll go into the details below, but the short version is: if there’s a game that you really want to play through, and if you can find a handful of people to play along with you, then we’ll open up a forum for that game.
