Yea, a set schedule won't work for Torment. It's such a personal game that its unlikely that any two of us will even follow the same path, let alone at the same time. __________________ http://lovelanguagevideogames.blogspot.com/ |

Cool, I'll pick the game up shortly. One reason I fancy this is that I never ever actually finish games, and I'm hoping this exercise will sort that. |

| Count in another newbie to the VGC. I'm another of those long term Brainygamer lurkers who are just getting around to joining up. I figured that if any game would get me to join up, it would be this one. I'm playing it (again) off my 4-cd set that I purchased way back when the game had just come to stores.
Despite playing it a number of times over the last decade, I don't think I've ever been truly chaotic or evil, so I'm thinking I'll try it that way this time. |

Another newcomer here, I'm in for this as well. I'm one of those plebeian console gamers that was weaned mostly on JRPGs, but I'm reformed now and looking to broaden my horizons. I picked up Planescape a few years back and tried to get into it, didn't make it far before I got distracted by something shiny outside my window, and I haven't picked it back up since. I'm hoping that, with the help of you fine folks here at the VGC, I can do better this time. __________________ Jamey Stevenson

Console RPG fans may find a lot to like with Torment, acutally. The perspective is different and the themes tend to be darker than JRPGs are normally, but its focus on strong characters in the party and quests of self-discovery are similar. |

Hello,
I am also a first-timer to VGC and Planescape. Thank you for setting this up. I am glad for the excuse to finally sit down with this game. I am just starting into the game, but have enjoyed how well it is written. It' been awhile since I've really had to exercise my imagination while playing anything. |

Hey, another newbie here for the fun. Got linked to this site from a friend (the friend who introduced me to Torment, actually), playing the GOG version since disc 2 of my 4-CD set is irreparably scratched.
Love the site, by the way.

...and another newcomer. Been a fan and listener to the BG podcast for some time, but going to join you in the playing of PS:T now. It will be my first playing of this game, so I am excited to share our ideas and experience. Happy gaming, guys. |

Hello everyone. I'm a little to the party it seems, but after seeing this on the BrainyGamer, I'd love to participate.
I bought Planescape: Torment over at a used bookstore several months back, and considering that my dog chewed up the analog sticks to my 360 controller, no time like the present than to dive in and experience this great game.

Hey all - it's nice to see so many new people here, and several of you have jumped right into the existing system. A few other seem to either be having some trouble with the game or aren't really posting, so as one of the moderators, I'd like to ask if there's anything we can do to encourage your participation? |

| Hi, I'm sorry if it's rude to post a new thread, I'm not sure what the rules are here. I just heard that you guys are doing planescape torment which I'm very interested in! Is there any way I could get caught up with a recent save and a small summary? |

Hello, samineru. You can, of course, create new threads, but this one happens to fit pretty well perfectly in the "Welcome" thread so I moved it. We have no set structure for how were working through the game, so don't worry about things like summaries or saved games. Just start playing Torment and post about it in the threads that already exist, or start a new one if you don't see what you want to talk about! |

Heh, i'm not stuck, just moving at a slow pace. I'm in the Lower Ward at the moment.
MINOR SPOILERS
Actually i did kind of get stuck and panic for a little while. I needed a skull to get Morte back from Lothar. I remember i had one from that spy i killed in the Dead Nations but i must have gotten rid of it (or given it to Morte)... so i went back to the Dead Nations and killed Acaste for its head... and then ran the hell out of there when everyone got hostile. It got Morte back but i guess this means i won't be welcome in the Dead Nations anymore (which sucks cause i was still working out a non-violent way to see The Silent King).

| I'm not stuck either; I'm just busy.
I'm in the Clerk's Ward trying to decide what to do next. I know where I have to go, but I'm not sure where exactly I want to go. I'll probably get Falls-From-Grace. She's handy. |

MINOR SPOILERS
@Atomicvege - From what I've read, once you get out of the Dead Nations initially, there's no way to see the Silent King peacefully. Which stinks, cause I still have that quest from Many-as-One. |

I have read that if your wisdom (or maybe it's charisma) is high enough, you can guilt Stale Mary into sending you to the Silent King's room.
Even with some tattoos i couldn't seem to do it

I had no idea that people are still posting (or have been, in January)! I have to admit that I loved the game back in the day, but was slightly put off by the pace and the interface when trying to participate in the discussion. Which is a shame, since I know that the game is worth enduring the slow beginning section. But then again, too many games purchased, but not played yet... I do like the idea of the Vintage Game Club as a place where I can be "late to the party" (I mean, isn't that the whole point of the Club anyway?), so I reserve myself the right to still play Torment and write about it, some of these days.
...that said, I'm sorry for not having contributed in any profound way in the last two games I voted for (this, and "Killer 7"). I used to be more patient with games, but so it goes... |
