I'm planning to install Windows on a Mac (mostly for playing older and indie games, I don't plan to run the latest and greatest games); any recommendations/advice about the mechanics of doing so? I asked some specific questions on my blog but I'll happily accept whatever suggestions people have on the general topic.

I put XP on a partition using Boot Camp back in 2008/9ish and didn't run into many troubles. I don't know how well Boot Camp works with Windows 7, but if you just want to play some old games XP would probably be better anyway. Also if you get Parallels or a similar program you can use that to access the Windows partition from within OS X. It'll just assign a CPU core to each OS. That way if you aren't running a difficult game you won't have to shut down and reboot in the other OS.
I ended up almost never using the Windows partition, but it was kinda cool to have and came in handy once or twice.
