I'll happily champion a playthrough of Another World.
So, to make this official, I need 5 VGC members willing to sign on and join me. If you'd like to jump in, post a reply below.
FYI, the 15th Anniversary edition of the game is available for download here. This edition also includes a manual, hi-res wallpapers, development diary, technical handbook, soundtrack, and making-of video.
Fumito Ueda (Ico), Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear), and Goichi Suda (No More Heroes) have all cited Another World as an inspirational game that influenced their work. If you're unfamiliar with the game, you can read all about it here.
After we've assembled a group, we'll collectively decide when to begin the playthrough. All are welcome!

I'm in. I've never played it before, and I understand that I should be ashamed. |

| I'll sign up for this one as well. And yes, if we end up selecting both Another World and Psychonauts, I will play through both of them, though I'll probably be glad that we have a two week spacing rule for game starts. |

Hmm... I may join you, IF this falls after our big trip. Currently I will be occupied for a couple of weeks with driving across country and then recuperating ^_^. Would love to spend some time with this (punishing and frustrating) game . __________________ blog + website + facebook |

Please include me too. This is a game I've always heard about, but never played.
Unexpected health problems interfered with my participation in the Bioshock playthrough, but I'll try to be more reliable this time. Reading the discussion about Another World in another thread, it appears to be a fairly short game, right?
Looking forward to it! |

Hey Michael that is an excellent idea. Please count me in. Here is a nice recent write up about the game that got me interested:
http://jayisgames.com/archives/2010/03/another_world.php
Here are a couple of links to guides that might help for breaking up the game into sections for different discussion topics if this goes ahead I've never had a chance to play the game so I don't know if they will be applicable.

Love to. Bought the game a couple weeks ago, played a few minutes of it and got distracted. __________________ Austin Auclair: http://www.ZombieApocalypseToday.com |

| I'm counting seven votes (plus Michael's), so it sounds like we have our first selection under the new rules! (Gee, that was a lot easier than the old voting process.) When shall we start? |

You got yourself another player here! (As I intend to play this one and "Psychonauts" as well, I'm glad for the two weeks-rule, too. May I suggest that we start with this one, because it can easily be finished in two weeks, giving people a chance to move on to "Psychonauts" afterwards?)
And of course, I can't help linking to Tim Roger's piece on "Another World", where he called it the best game ever - it's really one of his better texts, which in turn means that it is one of the finer pieces of game writing altogether, IMHO. It's so dense, though, that coming up with something substantial that he didn't cover yet might seem like a challenge. That said, I may suggest reading it after the first play-through, and not before. |

Oh my god, this game. It rented a Sega CD system in ...'94(?) and played through the game in its entirety before my rental due date was up. It definitely shaped me as a gamer and I'd love to play through it again. |

Hi Frohike. Please join us in the Another World forum I've opened. We'll begin organizing the playthrough very soon.

Count me in. I remember playing this game on my Amiga 500 when I was a kid. I did finish it back then so I'm excited to see how much I will remember once I get started.
Has anybody tried playing the DOS version in Dosbox? |

It runs just fine on Win 7. The forums on GOG (where the game's available) are full of similar speculation and so far it doesn't look like anyone would have been unable to run the game.
I have some sort of glitch when trying to run it on full-screen but a windowed mode (that you can set in the game's setup) works just as well as it did on Win XP. |
